The project

This project, proposed by Association our la Promotion Communautaire de l’Informatique (APCI) (Association for the Promotion of Communal Informatics) in Burundi during our 2015-2016 grant cycle, will campaign for the recognition and implementation of the African Declaration on Internet Rights and Freedoms. APCI’s goal is to demonstrate the indispensability of the declaration for Burundi’s development and peace process. Specifically, APCI will develop a puppet show in partnership with the Kamenge Youth Centre in Bujumbura which they hope to see broadcast on television. They will also host panel discussions and draft a memorandum that will be submitted to Burundi’s Minister of Communication.
